What would it be like if the dream of a sports car which on the one hand combines a gorgeous appearance with sports handling and on the other hand calms ecological consciences, were to become reality? This car would probably receive a large amount of attention. The renowned alloy manufacturer AEZ has sought out an attractive project of this kind with the Imperia GP.
At the Brussels Motor Show in January the Belgian manufacturer IMPERIA AUTOMOBILES SA presented the Imperia GP to world audiences for the first time. It is a roadster which should allow the future to be experienced today. This is possible because the two-seater has been systematically designed as a sports car, but thanks to its hybrid transmission also represents a refreshing exception amongst the pure petrol-powered dream cars.
AEZ Leichtmetallräder GmbH, the specialist for high-quality and exclusive aluminium wheels is also on board this extraordinary project. The Imperia GP is equipped with the brand-new Valencia High Gloss alloys in the dimensions 8.5x19 inch. This is evident, as after all the classy wheel impresses in particular with its weight optimisation and thereby excellently suits the hybrid sports car from Lüttich.
It goes without saying that the light-metal alloys bear the quality seal "Made in Germany. The 21 spokes give the multi-spoke alloy an elegant design which provides a nice contrast with the distinctive wheel arch of the Imperia GP. It also impresses thanks to lots of small details, for example the slightly receding centre area which makes the wheels seem bigger. The AEZ logo on the rim also gives the Valencia High Gloss a distinct appearance, which really sets it apart from the masses of alloy wheels. The bodywork of the Imperia GP, which has clearly been given a retro look and is thereby consciously reminiscent of the renowned Imperia TF of 1947, particularly in the region of the radiator and the wheel arches, and the classic wheel design of AEZ harmonise perfectly with each other.
The fact that it has been on show at the Brussels Motor Show in the hall entitled "Dream Cars says a lot about the quality of the Imperia GP. After all, established super sports cars from Ferrari, Aston Martin or Bugatti were on show here. But IMPERIA AUTOMOBILES SA is also a company rich in tradition. This is why even the Belgians self-consciously call the Imperia GP the "rebirth of a legend. This is also justified due to the "Auto-Mixte, a hybrid vehicle with a petrol-electric engine which was unveiled in 1897 under the label Imperia. In 2008 SME Green Propulsion, a specialist for vehicles with low emission values which is also based in Belgium recollected the brand. From the beginning, the aim was to build the ecological roadster of the future. As a result a corresponding infrastructure has been created, in which up to 100 Imperia GPs per year can be built.
For AEZ the new eco-roadster is an ideal symbol as General Manager Norbert Frohner also confirms: "Like no other sports car, the Imperia GP combines elegance with sportiness as well as ecological awareness – a benchmark which we also apply daily. A Powerhybrid® is at work under its bonnet, which is a combination of an electric and a combustion engine. The latter is an in-line four cylinder petrol engine with 1.6 litre cubic capacity and direct injection. In pure electric mode the CO2 emissions drop to zero, while the car can still manage 0 - 100 km/h in an impressive six seconds. In hybrid mode this drops to just four seconds - a time which would suit several established sports cars.
The start of production of the Imperia GP is planned for the beginning of 2012. The roadster will be built in the retro design on show in Brussels. The company has announced the sales price will be 89,950 Euros. In view of the high exclusivity and the vehicle performance on offer this is an extremely attractive offer – not to mention the ecological advantages. Norbert Frohner already seems pleased with the cooperation: "Imperia is a brand which combines tradition with innovation. We are happy to be a part of this project and hope that the Imperia GP enjoys a great future.
