Eibach springs eliminate potholes the size of small cars
Viva Las Vegas: in his third start in the American off-road series SCORE, Armin Schwarz presented himself for the first time in the gamblers’ Mecca to the assembled US off-road elite in its home town. Thanks to good preparations and quality technical components, such as Eibach springs, his commitment was everything but a game of chance.
The 44 year-old Armin Schwarz, who previously took part in the Baja 1000 (November ’06) and Baja 500 (June ’07), is back on the right track: at the Primm 300 over 300 miles (482.8 kilometres), Schwarz and his team colleague Matthias Kahle narrowly missed the podium by coming fourth out of 38 competitors in the closely contested Class 1 - for Unlimited Buggys. The two Germans took an impressive tenth place overall.
Dust, extreme heat and potholes big enough to swallow a small car really put man and material to the test. "Really heavy", Schwarz marvelled, and then added: "The suspension, one of the most burdened components, mastered the conditions without a problem."
With the vibrations still in their bones, Schwarz and Kahle are already looking towards their next objective: to win the Unlimited Buggy Class for the 40th anniversary of the notorious Baja 1000 off-road race with their 600 HP buggy. The two men proved that it is possible at the Nevada desert precursor. "It was just bad luck that we missed the winner’s rostrum", said Schwarz. "The All German Motorsports Team has done a fantastic job. We can all be proud of how we faired against the multi-million dollar teams from the USA."
The AGM-Power-Buggy will now be prepared for the season highlight in November in the AGM workshops in Escondido near San Diego in California. Armin Schwarz, Matthias Kahle and Martin Christensen, who will be taking the Buggy’s wheel as the third driver in the anniversary race, have already started planning the impending mission: "We’re well-equipped and intend to use a spotter helicopter at the BAJA 1000, just like our competitors."
