BRUSSELS, 14 April 2011 – The car, truck and bus makers in Europe have together opened a campaign to invite young adults across Europe to share their ideas and thoughts about the future of transport and mobility.

"Our Future Mobility Now seeks to give today’s young people a voice about how to move people and goods in an increasingly fast-paced, connected and global world and respond to environmental, societal and economic challenges at the same time. Through an online competition for the most creative, insightful ideas the automobile industry will invite up to 50 young people to a special launch event in Brussels in June to explore topics such as new mobility services, future skills, new technologies and connectivity. The dialogue will then be continued on-line as well as with on-site activities across Europe.

"2011 is a milestone year for our industry: We're celebrating the 125th anniversary of the car and the tremendous opportunities for personal freedom, economic development and social mobility it enabled said Dieter Zetsche, Head of Daimler AG and representing the automobile industry as chair of ACEA. "This project is designed to give the next generation of young Europeans a voice in reinventing mobility for the future.

The event in Brussels will be held in close cooperation with the EU ‘Youth on the Move’ project promoting mobility in education and training throughout Europe.

The online competition for event invitation will run until the end of May 2011 and is open to young people between 18 and 30 years old living in Europe. For more information please visit www.futuremobilitynow.com.
