Successful start to new technology partnership in Hockenheim
Eibach und Audi could not have wished for a more successful beginning at the start of the DTM (German Touring Car Masters) for their new technology partnership. After five years of Mercedes dominance in Hockenheim, the coup de main already succeeded on the first race weekend; the spectacular double victory by Mattias Ekström (1) and his team colleague Martin Tomczyk (2) from the Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline. Both drivers had an ingenious strategy and drove an almost perfect race. Their car, the Audi A4-DTM, had been thoroughly overhauled for the 2007 season and is on Eibach racing springs for the first time again. For a long time it seemed as if the third place on the Grand Prix track would also go to an Audi driver: new team member Timo Scheider had also had an impressive race and had worked his way to the front, but fell back into ninth place after a crash through no fault of his own with Mercedes driver Bruno Spengler.
Eibach is equipping all Audi works teams in the DTM in 2007 (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline, Audi Sport Team Phoenix and Audi Sport Team Rosberg) as well as the Audi customer team Futurecom TME. The company looks back on decades of experience in motorsports in all different types of race series, from equipping WRC rally cars to NASCAR, right through to Formula 1. The modular ERS Suspension Programme, which enables the creation of the best possible product set-up for the respective intended use from over 700 freely combinable Eibach individual components, was created out of this extensive catalogue of requirements. Individual custom-made springs are also used for Audi. In order to carry out customer wishes optimally with regard to performance and quality of the springs, coordination takes place directly with Audi.
